While commercial traffic represented only 35% of the OhioTurnpike’s annual VMT during fiscal 2008, it represented 58% of overall revenueso the YTD drop of 18.5% is significant from a revenue perspective. Year-to-date (YTD) April 2009 weekly VMT volumes for existing Classes 3- 11 (trucks) are down 18.50% year-on-year compared to Classes 1 – 2 (mainlyautomobiles, pickups and recreational vehicles) which declined by only 3.43%over the same period. Therecessionary economy and its subsequent effects on regional manufacturing,construction and employment had significant impacts on overall traffic duringfiscal 2008, with the overall number of vehicles travelling on the Ohio Turnpikedeclining 2.9% and vehicle miles travelled (‘VMT’) declining 5.0% from 2007levels. Overall traffic declined slightly during fiscal 2007 against the backdrop of thebeginnings of a national economic slowdown and high fuel prices.
